Regional Briefing: Book promotes smelting site

In a book they co-authored, Charles Hyde of the WSU History Department and Larry Lankton of Michigan Technological University make a case for preserving the old Quincy Smelting Works site in Ripley. They believe the historic site would be perfect for interpreting the critical importance of railroads and shipping to the Upper Peninsula's Keweenaw area. The book about the history of the mining company is titled "Old Reliable."
